VCP Course for Young Players discovers New talents in Mauritius

20 April 2015

Port Louis, Mauritius, April 19, 2015 - Forty-two boys and girls attended a Volleyball Cooperation Programme Young Players Course conducted by FIVB Instructor Mr André Glaive from April 11-15, training six hours a day over a five day period.

The facilities at the venue included three courts. Six assistant coaches also contributed to the smooth organisation of the event, which catered for the different skill levels of the 14- to 18-year-olds participating in the course.

Mr Glaive covered the fundamentals of physical training and reviewed different aspects of technique. The importance of regular training and teamwork were also highlighted. The participants were enthusiastic and worked hard throughout the five-day camp.

The Mauritius Volleyball Federation is in the early stages of setting up volleyball schools and training centres to help the country's young players to develop their skills and prepare for the African Volleyball Confederation's competitions in 2017/18. In due course, some of the young players participating in this week's event may join the country's emerging national teams.
