2017 CAVB U21 beach Cup- Finals

Cairo, Egypt, April 3, 2017- After few years of hard work from Mozambique Volleyball Federation under the presidency of Mr Khalid Cassam, both men and women teams U21 claimed the gold medal of the African Championships organised in Cairo, Egypt this week.

The Southern east African country specialised in Beach Volleyball since they organised All Africa Games finals in Maputo and by 2013 when the current President Cassam took over the responsibility, Beach VB have became a national target. They organised a lot of zonal and continental event until they dominated the competition recently.

In Men U21 final Mozambique duo Ronaldo Andela and Jose Mondlane defeated Morocco 2-1 (20-22, 21-19, 18-16) after an exciting Marathon.

In the Women category the highly performed Mozambique ladies  Liocardia Manica and Jessica Moiane struggled to beat the host team Egypt 2-1 (21-10, 18-21, 15-13) in front of their spectators.

The Mozambique dominance came through the African Dream Project where they have 4 centers across the country supplying the national teams with the promising players.

Both Mozambique teams will represent Africa in the coming World Championship U21 along with Morocco, Egypt, RD Congo and Nigeria in Men's category and Egypt, South Africa, Nigeria and Morocco in the women's gender.
