Youth African games Beach VB format announced

CAVB Beach Working Group



 Cairo, Egypt, June 11, 2018- CAVB Beach Volleyball Working Group met in Cairo, Egypt on Monday presided by Dr Amr Elwani, CAVB President to map out the African activities in 2018 and 2019.


 Dr Elwani started the meeting by welcoming the attendances and highlighted the activity of beach volleyball in Africa in the last few years.


 "We are happy to see 90% of African countries now playing beach volleyball, but we need now quality of the African teams playing at the international level," Elwani said.


 "We have a lot of experts now in this working group who can add their experiences for more bright future."  


 The meeting discussed the African U19 Beach Cup, which qualified 5 teams in each Gender to the World Championship of this age category.


 The format of the Youth African Games in Algeria was also discussed where the teams of the finals will be divided into 4 preliminary pools where the top 3 ranked teams book their tickets to the knockout stage which will be held in a simple elimination format.


 The Youth African Games hosted by Algeria will act as a qualifier for Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina 6 to 18 October 2018.


 Attendances in the meeting were CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani, CAVB Vice-president Waithaka Kioni, Beach commission President Ahmed Khanou and members Ali Yaro, Paul Atchoe, Antonio Rodrigues.
