Kenya and Nigeria to organise the Junior African Championships

26 June 2018

Cairo, Egypt, June 12, 2018- African Volleyball confederation's SOC Working Group met in CAVB Headquarters on Tuesday to discuss the 2018 remaining African competitions and to approve the 2019 and 2020 calendars.

CAVB President who led the working group asked the attendances to drop their opinions for a better future of African competitions.

"We ask all the attendances to brainstorm their ideas specially regarding the establishment of the new sponsored Club Championship and propose to the next CAVB Board of administration the ideas of having the new challenge Club Cup between the champions of Africa and the corresponding Asian champions." Elwani commented.

CAVB Executive Director Howyda Mondy presented the highly successful club championships this year for both men and women genders attracting a historic record of participating teams. Both competitions were live streamed and attracted the media across the content making un-preceded coverage.

The meeting discussed the Youth African Games qualifications in the continental 7 zones who booked their tickets to the finals of Youth African Games in Algeria 7 to 17 August, 2018.

The sports Organising Committee proposed to maintain the U23 African Nations Championships for both genders to maintain the young generations for longer time ahead of the senior level, however it will not be qualifying the World Championship next year owing to the FIVB decision of organising the world championship of this age category every 4 years.

CAVB granted the organisation of the Women's U20  African Nations championship to Nairobi, Kenya August 24 to September 3, 2018 and the U21 African Nations in Nigeria and dates will be defined later.
