Zimbabwean giants in debut appearance at African Club Championship

2015 Men's African Club Championship

 

 

Zimbabwean giants and 2014 Zone 6 Club Championships silver medallists, Support Unit will make their first ever appearance at  the CAVB Men’s African Club Championships. The tournament to start in Tunisia on Saturday March 7th is expected to attract well a record number of clubs from the continent. 

 

The  team which is coached by the Zimbabwean Senior national men’s assistant coach ,Itsanang Abu-Basutu hope to leave a mark  at the championships as well as have a great experience from their debut appearance.  They shall join Autoridade Tributaria of Mozambique as the other representative from Zone 6.

 

Assistant Coach Donald “Skilz” Chademana said their team cherishes the experience to rub shoulders with continental giants like Tunisia, Egypt and Algeria. “It will be a great experience for the team and we are on a learning curve. The team has played together for a while now and it will be a great experience for them”, said Skilz.

 

The Zimbabwe Republic Police side hosts in its ranks 5 National teams players Rufaro Douglas Choto (Opposite), Trymore Nyakwangwa(Setter) , Simba Muzunze( Middle Blocker), Murphrey Chindumo (libero), Charles Nyamasve (Outside Hitter).

 

 Support unit had a send off reception hosted for them in the capital which was officiated by Police Senior Assistant Commissioner Tanyanyiwa, Zimbabwe Volleyball Association Board Members Mxolisi Ndlovu and Shadreck Chisoko as well as other members of the  Volleyball fraternity and media. The team arrived to Tunisia via Dubai.
