Egypt overwhelm Kenya as Cameroon and Morocco start victorious at Men's African Champs

Cairo, Egypt, July 22, 2015- Heavy favourites Egypt, Cameroon and Morocco set the first win in the 2015 Men's African Nations Championship after they beat Kenya, Mauritius and Rwanda respectively in Day 1 of the competition held at Cairo Stadium complex on Wednesday.
 
 Egypt led Pool A, while Morocco led Pool B at the end of the day with 3 countries still waiting to start their campaign in Day 2 on Thursday.
 
 The competition acts as a qualifier for the 2015 FIVB Men's World Cup in Japan September 8 to 23, 2015 as the top two teams will secure their tickets to the prestigious event. 
 
 The opening ceremony was attended by CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani and Dr Ashraf Sobhi the Assistant of Minister of Sports and Egyptian Volleyball fed President Dr Foad Abdel Salam. 
 
Pool A
Egypt v Kenya 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-18)
 
Egypt pulled off a straight set victory over Kenya 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-18) in Pool A match lasting 69 minutes. Ahmed Salah led Egypt's scorers with 12 points, while Philip Maiyo led the Kenyans with 10 points.  
 
 The Kenyan team was highly competitive in the first set specially with the spikes of Philip Maiyo and the discipline of the defence, but Egypt overwhelmed the situation in the second and third sets due to the sharps services played by most of the Egyptians.  
 
Pool B
Cameroon v Mauritius 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-18)
 
Cameroon hammered Mauritius 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-18) in the opening match of 2015 Men's African Nations Championship in Pool B. Veteran attacker Jean Ndaki led the match scorers with 13 points equal to Joseph Kofane who scored also 13. Stephane Moonisamy led the Mauritian scorers with 8 points.
 
 Cameroon started their campaign at the competition with a win- loss ratio of 1-0, while Mauritius are 0-1.
 
Morocco v Rwanda 3-0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-17)
Morocco overcame the shaky start to overwhelm Rwanda 3-0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-17) in Pool B to prove their consistency as favourites for the title. Opposite spiker Mohamed Hachdadi played his best to lead his team to overcome a solid opponent who started in well organised line up. He scored 20 points coming out as the match best scorer followed by Zouhair Elgaraoui 9 points. Christophe Mukunzi led the Rwandan scorers with 8 points followed by Ivan Nasbimana 5 points.
 
 What increased the Moroccan dominance were the blockers who won 16 kill blocks against 5 for the Rwandans
