Egypt and Seychelles maintained winning streak at Women's AAG

2015 All Africa Games- Women Day 5

 

 

Brazzaville, Congo, September 7, 2015- Egypt and Seychelles continued their winning streak at Women's Volleyball competition at All Africa Games after they won their respective matches against Senegal and Ghana in Day 5 of the competition at Henry Elende Hall in Brazzaville, Congo on Monday.

 

 Egypt maintained their steady performance to beat 2015 African Nations semifinalists Senegal 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-16), while Seychelles overcame the shaky start to overwhelm Ghana 3-1 (24-26, 25-14, 25-14, 25-17). Botswana recorded the first win against hosts Congo Brazzaville 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-19).

 

 Egypt led the pool A with 3-0 (9 points), followed by Seychelles 3-0 (8 points), Senegal 1-2 (4 points), Ghana, Botswana 1-2 (3 points) and finally Congo Brazzaville 0-3.

 

Botswana v Congo Brazzaville 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-19)

 

 Botswana claimed their first win against Congo Brazzaville 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-19) in Pool A of Women's All Africa Games in a match lasting 71 minutes.

 

 Gasekgonwe Gaoleseletse led the Winner's scoerers with 13 points followed by Tracy Chaba 11. Bienvenue Ipandi led Congo scorers with 11 points followed by Diane Bikindou 10.

 

 With the victory Botswana improved their win- loss ratio to 1-2,while Congo dropped to 0-3

 

Seychelles v Ghana 3-1 (24-26, 25-14, 25-14, 25-17)

 

 Seychelles rebounded back from a set behind to win a thrilling 3-1 (24-26, 25-14, 25-14, 25-17) victory over Ghana in Pool A. after Ghana won the first set, Seychelles team became more motivated and succeeded to control the match till the end. They also used the service as weapon as they had 7/2 advantage in ace services, although Ghana had 9/6 in blocking.

 

 Marielle Bonne led Seychelles scorers with 18 points followed by Petrina Victor  13. Martha Pavon led the losers with 11 points.  Seychelles improved their win- loss ratio to 3-0, while Ghana dropped to 1-2.

 

Egypt v Senegal 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-16)

 

 Egypt cruised past Senegal 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-16) in 64 minutes of dominance for the Egyptians. The winners using the floating tactical service as a main factor to achieve the victory throughout the match to have 12/3 average in aces.

 

 Sara Amin led the Egyptians with 15 points followed by Aya El Shami and Aya Khalid 11. Mareme Diagne led the losers with 9 points. Egypt improved their record to 3-0, while Senegal dropped to 1-2.
