Congo beat battling Botswana to lead Pool A at Men's All Africa Games

Brazzaville, Congo, September 7, 2015- Hosts Congo Brazzaville entertained their spectators with a second straight win over fighting Botswana 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-19) in Day 5 of the Men's volleyball competition at the 2015 All Africa games at Henry Elende Hall in Brazzaville, Congo on Monday to stand at the top position of the pool with Egypt who were in a rest day and Nigeria who book second win in three matches.

 

 Congo raised their group points to 6 from 2-0 equal to Egypt ahead of Nigeria who set the second win against Mozambique 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-15) to reach 6 points but in 3 matches from 2-1. Botswana and Mozambique are still searching for the first win.

 

Men's competition

 

Nigeria v Mozambique 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-15)

 

 Nigeria overcame Mozambique 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-15) to mark their second victory. The match lasting 67 minutes showed full dominance for the Nigerians through their better reception and attacking power. With the victory Nigeria improved their win- loss ratio to 2-1 with 6 points, while Mozambique dropped to 0-2.

 

 Nigeria's attacker Hassan Eruaga topped the winner's scorers with 14 points, while Aldevino Nguvo led the match scorers with impressive 20 points in the losing efforts.

 

Congo Brazzaville v Botswana 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-19)

 

 Congo Brazzaville entertained home crowd with a thrilling straight sets win (25-19, 25-16, 25-19) over Botswana to lead Pool A. With the victory Congo Brazzaville's win- loss ratio improved to 2-0, while Botswana dropped to 0-3.

 

 The highly motivated Congo players dominated the match with their powerful tall blockers beside the efficient attacks. Abrahis Nkouka led Congo Brazzaville scorers with 10 points, while Kabo Moetse led the losers with 16 points.
