Algeria crush Cameroon in African classic at Men's All Africa Games

2015 All Africa Games- Men Day 6

Brazzaville, Congo, September 8, 2015- Algeria upset Cameroon 3-1 (29-27, 27-25, 24-26, 25-21) in the peak action of Day 6 in Men's Volleyball competition at 2015 All Africa Games held at Henry Elende Hall in Brazzaville, Congo on Tuesday.

 

The match which is considered one of the most famous African derbies showed a thrilling action specially form the Algerian promising players, who succeeded to lead the pool with 3-0 and 8 points ahead of Cameroon who stayed at 6 points from 2-1 equal to Ghana who set also the second win against Cape Verde 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-16). Rwanda regained the hopes of a semifinal slot after they overcame Seychelles 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 25-19).

 

Men's competition

 

Ghana v Cape Verde 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-16)

 

 Ghana overwhelmed Cape Verde 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-16) in Pool B of Men's All Africa Games. The taller Ghana players controlled the net action specially in blocking to win the match using the experience of their players.

 

 Ghana improved their win- loss ratio to 2-1 with 6 points, while Cape Verde dropped to 1-2 with 2 points. Bernard Attom and Richard Amanor led the winner's scorers with 12 points, while Valdir Reis led Cape Verde with 15 points to head the match scorers.  

 

Algeria v Cameroon 3-1 (29-27, 27-25, 24-26, 25-21)

 

Algeria fought for 130 minutes to upset Cameroon 3-1 (29-27, 27-25, 24-26, 25-21) in a thrilling encounter with tight sets all through. With the win Algeria improved to a win- loss ratio of 3-0 with 8 points, while Cameroon dropped to 1-2 with 6 points.

 

 The Algerian promising outside hitter Islam Ould Charchali was the match star as he scored a lot of crucial points throughout the match and came as the match scorer with 24 points followed Ayoub Dekkiche 16. Cameroon opposite attacker Jean Ndaki led Cameroon scorers with 20 points followed by Nathan Wounembaina 19.

 

Rwanda v Seychelles 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 25-19)

 

 Rwanda beat Seychelles 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 25-19) in an exciting encounter lasting minutes. Rwanda set their first win in 3 matches to improve to 1-2, while Seychelles dropped to 0-3.

 

  Rwandan experienced opposite Guma Yakan led his team scorers with 11 points equal to Christophe Mukanzi, while Shaine Karabeau led Seychelles scorers with 23 points.
