Cameroon, Kenya and Algeria continue victories at Women's All Africa Games

2015 All Africa Games- Women Day 6

 

Brazzaville, Congo, September 8, 2015- Cameroon Women's volleyball team continued unbeaten run at the All Africa Games after they clinched the third win against Mozambique 3-0 at Henry Elende Hall in Brazzaville, Congo on Tuesday.

 

 Kenya recovered from day 4 defeat against Compatriot Cameroon to overcome Nigeria 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-19). Algeria marked the second victory over Cape Verde 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-11).

 

 Cameroon maintained leading Pool B with 3-0 record and 8 points followed by Kenya 2-1 (7 points), Algeria 2-1 (6 points), Nigeria 1-2 (3 points), Cape verde 1-2 (2 pts) and finally Mozambique 0-3 (1 point).

 

Kenya v Nigeria 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-19)

 

Kenya downed Nigeria 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-19) in Pool B of Women's All Africa Games match lasting 69 minutes. Kenya's opposite Esther Mwombe, outside hitter Joan Chelegat and centre Edith Mukuvilani led the scorers of the winner with 11 points each, while Nigeria's Mercy Promise led the losers and match scorers with 13 points.

 

 Kenya improved their win loss ratio to 2-1, while Nigeria dropped to 1-2. Kenya's blocker played the main role in the victory as Kenya marked 15/4 in stuff blocks throughout the match to make the function of the Nigerians very difficult to penetrate. The Kenyan sharp service also was potent in the match action figuring 8/1 advantage for the winners.

 

Algeria v Cape Verde 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-11)

 

 Algeria defeated Cape Verde 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-11) in Pool B in 61 minutes. The victory improved the Algerian record to 2-1 with 6 points, while Cape Verde dropped to 1-2 with 2 points.

 

 Algeria fully controlled the match their better discipline in defence and attacks. Opposite attacker Amina Redouani and wing spiker Kahina Arbouche led the winners with 10 points, while Nilza Gonsalves and Clara Graca led the losers with 5 points.  

 

Cameroon v Mozambique  3-0 (25-9, 25-11, 25-10)

 

Cameroon outclassed Mozambique 3-0 (25-9, 25-11, 25-10) in Women's All Africa Games in 60 minutes. The victory is the third for the West African country to stay as the only unbeaten team in Pool B with 3-0 record. Mozambique dropped to 0-3. 

 

 Theornine Aboa led the winners with 15 points followed by Stephanie Fotsu 14 points. Cameroon had a wide advance in both spiking and blocking beside the spike service they played throughout the match.
