Cameroon and Kenya to vie for Women's All Africa Games Gold

2015 All Africa Games- Women Day 11


Brazzaville, Congo, September 12, 2015- Giants Cameroon and Kenya qualified to the final of the Women's All Africa Games after they won their corresponding semifinal matches against Seychelles and Egypt respectively in the semifinal matches held at Henry Elende Hall in Brazzaville, Congo on Sunday.


 Cameroon took over Seychelles 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-23), while Kenya fought bravely against Egypt to win epic Marathon 3-2 (25-21, 24-26, 24-26, 25-14, 15-11). Cameroon face Kenya on Monday in the competition final, while Egypt will meet Seychelles for the Bronze medal.

Cameroon v Seychelles 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-23)


Cameroon overcame the battling Seychelles team 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-23) in the semifinal of Women's Al Africa Games. Cameroon qualified to the final for the second games in a row, while Seycheelles will play for the Bronze medal.


 Cameroon overwhelmed the blocking and serving activity throughout the match as they had advantage of 12/4 in stuff blocks and 4/1 in ace services. Laeticia Bassoko led the winners with 14 points, while Captain Jerna Bonne led Seychelles with 12 points.


Kenya v Egypt 3-2 (25-21, 24-26, 24-26, 25-14, 15-11)


 Kenya fought for a Marathon of 130 points to battle past Egypt in grueling five setter 3-2 (25-21, 24-26, 24-26, 25-14, 15-11) to qualify to the final of Women's All Africa Games against Cameroon, leaving Egypt to play for the bronze medal against Seychelles.


Kenya's middle blocker Edith Wisa Mukuvilani played her best and was the match scorer with impressive 24 points including 7 kill blocks. Aya El Shami led the Egypt with 16 points in the losing efforts.
