2016 Women's African Olympic Qualifier

Yaoundé, Cameroon, February 14, 2016-  Algerian outside hitter Safia Boukhima is one of the golden generation for the Algerian women National team competing now in the 2016 Women's African Olympic Qualifier in Yaoundé, Cameroon who played twice in the Olympic in Beijing 2008 and London 2012 and now seeks new African record of being the only African to play at three Olympic Games.

"Our Objective is to play in Rio de Janeiro, it is a dream for the whole team," said Algeria's outside hitter Boukhima after her team qualified to the semifinal of the Olympic Qualifier.

"I was honoured to play twice in the Olympics and I know it is a big challenge to play for the third time.

Boukhima was one of the golden generation that show the best players in the history of Algeria like the setter Fatma Oukazi, the hitters Faiza Tsabet and Zohra Bensalim. This generation won the African Nations Championship in 2009 beside the gold medal in 2 consecutive All Africa Games in 2007 and 2011. Now only Boukhima and Lydia Olumou are still in the national team form that generation.

She is now the team captain and the main engine of points for the 2015 African Nations runner up.

"We are looking forwards to our Semifinal on Monday to complete our dreams to play in Rio." she concluded.
