Esperance, Geish, Setif in the death pool at Men's African Club Champs

2016 Men's African Club Championship- Drawing of lots 

Cairo, Egypt, March 22, 2016- The drawing of lots for the 2016 Men's African Club Championship was held on Tuesday at Le Passage Hotel in Cairo Egypt in presence of CAVB President Dr Amr Elwani, Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Dr Ashraf Sobhi and Egyptian Volleyball Federation President Dr Fouad Abdel Salam.


The 24 participating teams were divided into 4 pools as follows:


Pool A: Zamalek (EGY)- Police (Sen)- Swehly (LBA)-Hamad (SUD)-Genermerie (MAD)-DGSP (CGO)

Pool B: Ahly (EGY)- Espoir (COD)-Douanes (BUR)- Atletico (CPV)- TCOM (GAB)- Wolaitta (ETH)

Pool C: Esperance (TUN)- Geish (EGY)- GSU (KEN)- CSVB (CMR)- Autoridade (MOZ)-Setif (ALG)

Pool D: Smoha (EGY)-Nahda (SUD)- Ahly B (LBA)- Fanar (ALG)-FAP (CMR)- Nemostar (UGA)


 Dr Elwani opened the meeting with a welcome speech to all the participating teams and hoped them all the best of luck. He appreciated the great representation in the competition and having a new record of participation.


 Egyptian Volleyball Federation president Fouad Abdel Salam said that he is happy to have this number of teams and promised to make all the facilities available for all the teams.


 The competition will start on Wednesday March 23 and the final will be on April 1, 2016.


 Each preliminary pool will play in a round robin format to rank the teams from the 1st to the 6th. The top 2 teams in each pool play for the positions 1 to 8. The 3rd and 4th teams play for the 9th to the 16th and the 5th and 6th ranked teams in the pools play for the 17th to the 24th places.
