Carthage, Ahly and Shams book quarterfinal tickets at Women's African Club Champs

2016 Women's African Club Championship- Day 4

 

Tunis, Tunisia, April 25, 2016- Three teams booked their tickets to the quarterfinal of the 2016 Women's African Club Championship as Curettage (Tunisia), Ahly and Shams (both from Egypt) made their way to the last eight after the competition day 4 in Tunis, Tunisia on Monday leaving the remaining 5 tickets to the last day of the preliminary round. 

 

 Organisers Carthage of Tunisia overcame their compatriots Mechaal Bejaia of Algeria 3-1 (25-16, 17-25, 25-18, 25-19) in a ground breaking encounter in Pool A. Carthage led the pool with 3-0 to confirm last eight round ticket ahead of Rwanda's Revenue 1-1 and Bejaia 1-2.

 

 Egypt's Ahly set the third win in a row over Bafia (Cameroon) 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-16) to improve to 3-0, while the losers dropped 0-3. The second ticket of pool B will be determined between Sfax (Tunisia) and Wilaya Bejaia on Tuesday.

 

 FAP of Cameroon hammered Ghana's Police 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-20) iv pool C to improve to 1-1 while the losers dropped to 0-2. The 2 tickets of the pool to the quarters will be determined on Day 5.

 

 Shams of Egypt continued their superior performance as they beat Favourites and 5 time African champions Kenya Prisons 3-1 (25-18, 25-11, 19-25, 25-22) in Pool B. The Egyptian team improved to 3-0, while the Kenyans dropped to 2-1. Shams booked their berth at the quarters, while the second ticket will be confirmed on Tuesday. In the second match of the pool. Injis of Cameroon downed Jos South of Nigeria 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-17). The winners finished their pool matches with 2-2 win- loss ratio, while the losers dropped to 1-2.
