Ahly and Carthage to vie for Women's African club title

2016 Women's African Club Championship- Semifinal


Tunis, Tunisia, April 29, 2016- Defending champions Ahly of Egypt and Carthage of Tunisia will repeat their 2015 semifinal meeting, as both heavy favourites qualified to the final spot of the 2016 Women's African Club Championship following their victories in the semifinal against Revenue Authority of Rwanda and Kenya Pipeline respectively in Tunis, Tunisia on Friday.


 Ahly overcame the dark horses Rwanda Revenue Authority 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-9) in a match dominated by the Egyptian team after the great efforts done by the Rwandans in the quarterfinal yesterday.


 Organisers Carthage of Tunisia upset the 7 time African Champions Pipeline 3-1 (21-25, 31-29, 25-23, 25-15) in the other semifinal that showed full house of spectator attendance.


 In the play off 5 to 8 positions Shams of Egypt rebounded after the quarterfinal loss to beat the 2014 champions GSP of Algeria 3-1 (14-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-21).


 Sfax of Tunisia overwhelm Kenya Prisons 3-1 (25-17, 21-25, 27-25, 25-20) in the other 5 to 8 play off.


 Shams meet Sfax on Saturday for the 5 and 6 positions, while Prisons face GSP for the 7 and 8 places.
