Egypt to host Women's U20 African Championship

Cairo, Egypt, November 15, 2016- African Volleyball Confederation "CAVB" decided to nominate Egypt as a host for the 2016 Women's U20 African Nations Championship from 29th of January to 5th of February, 2017 in Cairo, Egypt.


 This competition is the fifth out of 6 age group competitions known to qualify the African teams for the World Championships of all age categories after the already played Girls' U18 in Madagascar, Boys' U19 in Tunisia, Men's U21 in Morocco and Women U23 in Kenya. The 6th and last competition for Men's U23 is still pending for an organiser.


 The Women U20 is open to players born on 1st of January 1998 or later.  


 The Continental championship was postponed in order to ensure the participation of at least 4 teams so as to guarantee the continental quota to the World Championship. FIVB have accorded Africa the right to qualify two teams to the 2017 Women's U20 World Championship but only if the continental championships have 4 or more teams taking part, failure to which only one team will qualify.


 The deadline for participation will be December 16, 2017.
