Ahly, Etoile head for showdown in Club Championship final

2017 Men's African Club Championship- Semifinal  

 

 

 Tunis, Tunisia, March 26, 2017- Ahly Egypt and Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia book their tickets to the final of the 2017 Men's African Club championship after they won their corresponding matches against Algeria's Bourj Bouaririj and Libya's Swehly respectively in the semifinal matches at Taraji Hall in Tunis, Tunisia on Monday.  

 

Ahly hardly overcame Bourj Bouaririj (Algeria) 3-1 (25-15, 23-25, 30-28, 25-18) in a thrilling encounter lasting 105 minutes, while Etoile du Sahel suffered Swehly's late comeback to win by CAVB Control Committee decision after withdrawal of the Libyan team following spectators political intervention at the last point when the result was 25-20, 25-17, 23-25, 18-25, 14-7 for favour of Etoile.

 

 Ahly face Etoile in another Egyptian- Tunisian face off in the final, while Bourj meet Swehly for the bronze medal.

 

 In the play off 5 to 8 position Prisons (Kenya) pulled off a tough victory over FAP (Cameroon) 3-2 (25-20, 25-19, 22-25, 23-25, 15-13) in 2 hours of fluctuating game. in the second match Esperance (Tunisia) easily crashed Assarya (Libya) 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-13). Esperance play Prisons for the 5th place, while as FAP line up against Assarya for the 7th position.
