Ahly's Kotb named Men's African Club Championship MVP

Tunis, Tunisia, March 30, 2017- Emerging opposite spiker Ahmed Kotb was nominated as 2017 Men's African Club Championship Most Valuable Player "MVP" after he led Ahly of Egypt to the 12th title in their history doing a great role in the victory.

 

 Kotb 53 points coming as the competition 5th scorer, beside having 13 stuff blocks.

 

 At 25y old, Kotb becomes one of the most talented Egyptian players taking the place of the Egypt all time best player Ahmed Salah as the main point engine in the Egyptian team from position 2.

 

 Kotb started in Ahly when he was only 13y as he grow in the famous Egyptian club and was selected in all Egyptian age categories starting from U19 years, then U21 and passing to the first team when he was only 19 years.

 

 The opposite attacker started his senior international career during the 2010 World Championship in Italy and then continued to take role in most of the international competitions like the World Championships, World Cups and World leagues.

 

Marouen Mrabet (Etoile- Tunisia) was selected as the Best Setter after his great role with the team to quality to the final specially his part during the crucial quarterfinal match against Esperance. He had 179 running sets during his matches.

 

 Mohamed Abdelmoneim (Ahly- Egypt) was named best receiver for his role as a great receiver in the competition till he was injured in the cruciate ligaments during the final. He had 62 excellent receiving attempts.

 

 Best Libero was Ali Moustafa from Swehly- Libya after his great performance throughout the competition leading the team to the 4th position for the second year in a row.

 

 The competition tallest player Abdelhalim Abou from Ahly (217 cm) played a great role in spiking and blocking from position 3 to come as the best blocker. He had 26 Kill blocks during the tournament.

 

 Best Server was the Etoile's outside hitter Hamza Ngga, while Best spiker was Bilal Soualem from Bourj- Algeria who came also as best scorer with 80 points.
