Monastir, Tunisia, April 7, 2017 – The defending champions of the Women’s African club championship Ahly of Egypt start to defend their title with a hard fought 3-1 (25-14, 25- 21, 18-25, 25-18) victory against Prisons of Kenya.
With the weight of the match sinking in during initial moments, Prisons went off to a shaky start. However, both sides performed equally well, each taking a few points apiece, where a long rally with several impressive saves saw the point eventually go to Ahly. Prisons improved in the second set to score 21 points compare to 14 they earned in the first set.
With two sets in the bag for Ahly, Prison knew it was their last shot, and fight they did. Prison took an early advantage leading 8-4 going into the time out and they maintain their lead to win 25-18, and the 4th set Ahly defending well to dominate and won the set 25-15 for a 3-1 victory
