Monastir, Tunisia, April 8, 2017- Pipeline got off to a perfect start in the 2017 CAVB women’s African club champions after beating GSP of Algeria 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-16) in Pool C on Saturday.
Pipeline improved their win- loss ratio to 2-0, while GSP dropped to 1-1.
The first set was closely contested between the two sides and the same drama continues to the second set but the Kenyans got it right in their favour.
Pipeline came into the third set with more urgency and purpose. Sensing the imminent threat of being unable to recover, GSP coach called for a time-out to dispel advice to the team.
However, Pipeline rode on their momentum to pull away until 23-12, where another time-out was called. The Kenyans managed to gain a point following an out ball from Sonatrach, and eventually took the set 25-16.
