Sonatrach knock Army of Rwanda in a quarterfinal decider

Monastir, Tunisia, April 10, 2017- Sonatrach of Algeria overcame their opponents Army of Rwanda in hard fought pool C encounter 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-23) in the 2017 women’s African club championship in Hellal Hall on Monday.

 

 The winners improved their win- loss ratio to 2-1 to book the second ticket of the pool to semifinal, while the Rwandan team dropped to 1-2.

 

The match was a one-way street with the Algerians mauling their opponents. They finished every set in dominance fashion, with the most dominant performance of the match coming on in set 2 were GSP won 25-12 following their first set win 25-20.

 

Rwandans came strong in the third set leading 15-11, before GSP could earn a point. And showcased their brilliant serving and passing style in the set going into the second technical time out still Army leading 16-13.

 

Throughout the set, Sonatrach have been able to control the matchups with their adept passing play. The players utilize their passes to set up point-winning spikes and this aspect of the game has been improving steadily, especially in the finishing department. GSP level the scores at 16-16 and from there on it was a see-saw battle with an ace from Rwanda Mukantambara leveling it at 23-23.

 

GSP ultimately win the set 25- 23 and the match 3-0.
