Monastir, Tunisia, April 11, 2017- Eight time champions Ahly of Egypt remain unbeaten in the 2017 women’s African club championship following their victory over Bejaia of Algeria 3-0 (25-14- 25-22, 25-16) in the final day of group stages at Mzali hall on Tuesday.

Ahly ended the first round on top of Pool B with 4-0 record, while Bejaia dropped to 1-3.

Ahly comfortably won the first set with less resistance from Bejaia with a 25-14 margin.

Bejaia came positive in the second set to take a commanding lead 22-12 and continued their show in the early stages of the second set but Ahly fought their way back to take it 25-22, much to the dismay of the crowd. Trailing 13 points down, the current champions opted to call for a timeout so to regroup and dispel out of court advices and it worked well as they surprisingly passed the opponents from 13 points down to win the set.

The third set did not have any real significance but Ahly remained focused to seal a 3-0 victory and start the celebrations going into the quarter finals as pool B winners and retaining the title is still alive.
