Monastir, Tunisia, April 13, 2017 – Kenya Prisons shattered the hopes of Pipeline of leveling record set by Ahly in the Women’s African club championship after beaten Pipeline 3-2 (13-25, 28-26, 25-19, 23-25 15-13) at Mzali Hall in Monastir, Tunisia on Wednesday.
Pipeline scored the first three points and then cements their early lead and they continue to set the pace to win 25-13.
Prisons came back and narrowed the point gap in the second set. Every point Prisons scored brought a deafening thunder. Clever tips and angled spikes kept the points coming for Prisons until 16-13. Excellent defensive work from both teams kept the rallies going. At 24-24 it became point for point trades but Prisons clawed it back to 26 all and then took the set 28-26.
These teams were so close. Again it was point for point trading of spikes and tips in the third set.
A number of Pipeline hitting faults gave Prisons the advantage and they were straight back in the game after two Pipeline hitting faults. The set became more interesting as these two African giants set the tone, the crowd goes wild as Prisons took the lead 2-1.
Pipeline came wild in the 4th set for a revival shift and it pays off as they win the set 25-23. Then there came the ultimate set for the winner to be known and the victory goes to the 5 time winners Prisons as they beat the close country rivals 15-13 to book a ticket to the semi finals
