Camerounís FAP outshine Asec Mimosas in play off 9 to 16

Monastir, Tunisia, April 13, 2017 – Cameroon's FAP regained their rhythm to outclass Asec Mimosas of Cote d'Ivoire FAP side 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-10) in the play off for 9-16 positions in Monastir, Tunisia on Thursday.


FAP started the first set quickly with a run of points. FAP’s Libero dived to keep FAP in the game and FAP led 8-3. Asec weren’t able to close the gap as FAP still led 16-8. The FAP attackers spike from above the block and hit the 2m line regularly – Asec were defenseless. It was a slow catch up for Asec with good hitting and a couple of FAP errors. It was 24-13, before FAP closed the set out confidently 25-15.


Asec Mimosas of Ivory Coast regained their composure and came out firing in the 2nd set, with Fama Diong scoring strong. Asec were up 8-6. FAP then scored a strategic tip back court and Asec lost two points for reaching over the net to help give FAP the lead. The Cameroonians got a set off from Asec to win the second set 25-19.


FAP were comfortably leading 16-9 going into the second technical timeout. Asec couldn’t hold down the Cameroonian representative and their game was off at 25-10.
