Sfax attacking against Carthage

Monastir, Tunisia,  April 13th 2017 - Organisers Carthage had made it through to the semi final of the 2017 women's African club championship in style after beating Sfaxien 3-1 (27-25, 25-15, 23-25, 25-23) in the quarterfinal in Monastir, Tunisia on Thursday.

 

It was a tough battle in the first set, with both teams dominating with hits,  recovery and blocks. Sfaxien had their own moment of celebrations but the Tunisian Giants Carthage showed their supremacy to win 27-25 in the set.

 

They came more strong in the second set, condemning their arch rivals to a 25 - 15 win. Despite the moral down Sfaxien did not relent in their efforts to stop the host. A 3rd set, characterised by more urgency and purpose followed and Sfaxien got it in the right way 25-23 to raise alarm.

 

The crowd were chanting whenever Carthage scored a point, but Sfaxien fought it down to the wire. It prompted an urgent need of action from the host technical bench to dispel technical advice and within the ephemeral Carthage were on the way to the semi finals.
