Arsu beat Asec
15 April 2017
Monastir, Tunisia, April 15, 2017- ARSU from Seychelles finished 13th in the 2017 women African club championship after a 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-21) win over Asec Mimosas of Cote d'Ivoire on Saturday at Ksar Hellal Hall.
The first set started strong and an evenly matched few points led ARSU ahead of Asec. ARSU kept up the lead, celebrating a win of 25-16.
A few dodgy serves in the second set put Asec one step behind ARSU, which they struggled to claw back throughout the set. The tension rose with each point. As Asec’s defence continued to pick up the teams’ hits, several players played it smart and started pushing to the corners. It wasn’t quite enough and they went down fighting in the second set, 25-21.
In the third set all the pieces seemed to fit together. Asec kept reassessing the balance on court so as to avoid having gaping holes. The set was 16-11 for ARSU going into the second technical timeout.
Hints and snippets of advice were passed along like valuable secrets as players swapped on and off court. And ARSU finally win the set 25-21
