Egypt book third ticket to semifinal of Women's African champs

2017 Women's African Nations Championship- Day 4

 

 

 Yaoundé, Cameroon, October 10, 2017- Heavy favourites Egypt booked the third semifinal ticket of the 2017 Women's African Nations championship after they set a stunning victory over black horses Botswana 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-21) in Day 4 at Palais des Sports in Yaoundé, Cameroon on Tuesday.

 

 Cameroon and Kenya early confirmed their qualification ticket to the final four to leave one place for the runner up of Pool B to be determined in the final day of the first round on Wednesday.

 

 The competition is also 2018 World Championship qualifiers as the top 2 teams in the continental championship confirm berths to the prestigious FIVB competition.

 

 The victory of Egypt raised their win- loss ratio to 2-0, equal to Cameroon who won also their two matches as both teams meet face to face on Wednesday to determine the leaders of Pool A. In the same Pool Algeria, meet Botswana for the third and fourth positions.

 

 In Pool B Kenya maintained their superior performance to see off Tunisia 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-16) in the clash of African titans. Nigeria set the first victory over RD Congo 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-16).

 

 Kenya finished their pool matches with a 4-0 record to top the pool, followed by Senegal 2-1, while both Tunisia and Nigeria 1--2 ahead of winless Congo who came at the bottom of the pool with 0-3.

 

 The second placed team in the pool will be determined after the last two matches on Wednesday when Nigeria play Senegal and Tunisia combat RD Congo.
