Yaoundé, Cameroon, October 11, 2017- Algeria defeated fighting Botswana 3-2 (14-25, 25-21, 16-25, 25-12, 15-8) on day 5 of the 2017 Women's African Nations Championship at Palais des Sport in Yaoundé, Cameroon on Wednesday.


 This is the first victory for the North African team improving their record to 1-2 to finish the pool stage at the thrid position, while winless Botswna dropped to 0-3 to end fourth.


 Botswana begin as the better side with their good reception and attacks through Tsholofelo as they went to win the first set before Algeria improved their blocking in the second set to draw 1-1. The situation repeated in the third and fourth sets as Botswana dominate again in the first before Algeria rebounded for the second time in the latter to extend the match to tiebreak.


 The highly passionate Algerian players were superior in the tiebreak to win in a big point deficit 15-8.
