Tunisia set Marathon win as Egypt and Algeria begin victorious at Men

2017 Men's African Nations championship- Day 1  

 

 

 Cairo, Egypt, October 22, 2017- Tunisia set the most difficult victory of the 2017 Men's African Nations championship's opening day as they down the solid Libyan team 3-2 (25-19, 20-25, 20-25, 25-15, 15-7) in a thrilling Marathon lasting more than two hours at Cairo Stadium Complex in Egypt on Sunday.

 

 Organisers and defending champions Egypt topped Niger 3-0 (25-10, 25-6, 25-12) in a one side game of Pool A.

 

 Pool B featured exciting victory for Ghana over Kenya 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-15) before the tough victory for the Tunisians in the same Pool.

 

 Pool C match between Cameroon and Nigeria was postponed by a decision form the Control Committee because of the late arrival of Nigerian team due to flight problems.

 

 Pool D showed heavy favourites Algeria overwhelm Botswana 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-17) using their expereince, while Rwanda beat Chad 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-15).

 

 The 2017 Men's African championship doubles also as 2018 World Championship qualifiers where the top three African teams book their tickets to represent Africa in the FIVB Prestigious championship
