Egypt and Tunisia book World Championship tickets

2017 Men's African Nations championship- Quarterfinal 

 

 

 Cairo, Egypt, October 27, 2017- Egypt and Tunisia set another classic final for 2017 Men's African Nations championship after both favourites won their corresponding semifinal over Cameroon and Algeria respectively at Cairo Stadium Complex in Egypt on Friday.

 

 The two major African powerhouses set to play the final for the 11th time to feature again one of the biggest African Derbies.

 

 The two finalists secured their tickets to the 2018 FIVB World championship as first and second of Africa.

 

 Both Egypt and Tunisia had 8 titles under their name with Egypt gaining the last 6 trophies.

 

 Tunisia fought aggressively for more than 2 hours to overcome Algeria 3-2 (25-27, 25-14, 21-25, 25-23, 17-15) in the first semifinal.

 

 Egypt supported by their fans upset Cameroon in the second semifinal 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-23) to clinch the second ticket to the World Championship.

 

 In the Play off 5 to 8 places, Rwanda beat Libya 3-2 (25-19, 25-18, 12-25, 24-26, 15-13), while Morocco trounced Congo RDC 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-20), where the winners play on Sunday for the 5th positions leaving the losers to face for the 7th place.

 

 In the play off 9 to 12 Kenya overwhelmed Chad 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-20), while as Ghana defeated Botswana 3-0 (26-24, 25-21, 25-22).

 

Finally Nigeria outclass their neighbours Niger 3-0 (26-24, 25-15, 25-20) to finish 13th, as Niger concluded 14th.  

 

 

 The 2017 Men's African championship doubles also as 2018 World Championship qualifiers where the top three African teams book their tickets to represent Africa in the FIVB Prestigious championship
